How to write poems in an essay

One must have a mind of madness
To read the news, hear headlines
on the car radio, dropping the children off
At school just in time, their “Bye Mom”
A back-cast afterthought, the sudden silence,
The morning stretching out
With promise; and not feel a little uncertain,
This world, this day, the classroom activities
Quiet to the minutes that will hold your morning.
Anything can happen, and you would only know
If the teacher texted you to say, “Your daughter
Fell off the swing, and she cried, but
She’s okay now.” You have no choice but to trust that
It’s true.
